Holly Suzanna Clifford creates art jewellery; crafting pieces of delicate and detailed wearable art, celebrating the curious attraction we have to plants, places and the natural world.

Encompassing ideas from outside the realm of jewellery, her work draws from illustration, great painters such as Monet and Klimt, and nature. Working in copper, silver & resins, she combines traditional skills with modern making techniques, to develop innovative collections of work.

Holly gathers inspiration from botanic gardens; the beauty of the plant life & the ethereal quality of glasshouses. she incorporates a wide range of colour palettes, layering paintings inside eco-resin, creating incredible depth within the forms. Brushstrokes and mark making are celebrated, exploring the beauty of the unintentional. Pierced silver in leafy motifs and hand textured elements link the resin together and to the body, in a way that encourages movement with the wearer. Because of the nature of painting by hand, no two pieces will ever be the same – each is its own unique item of art to wear.

Holly studied in the heart of Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter at the School of Jewellery, on the BA Jewellery Design & Related Products course. After a spell making from the garden shed at her family home, she now continues to produce beautiful works from the the Yorkshire Artspace’s Silversmithing & Jewellery Starter Studio at The Persistence Works, Sheffield.
